The classical method, kept classical

A boutique studio in Uptown / Turtle Creek, teaching Pilates the way Joseph Pilates intended it, with the attention a small studio can give.

Our studio

A second home to build a healthier life.

Classic Pilates is a boutique-sized studio specializing in the classical method as developed by the world-renowned Joseph Pilates. Our beautiful, light-filled studio is equipped with the best Pilates equipment in the industry.

Founded by Joann Cuccurullo and open in Uptown since 2011, the studio was built around a simple belief: quality, not quantity. We offer private, semi-private, and small group sessions so every client gets real, personal attention. Whether you want to take your fitness to the next level, revamp your workout, or recover from an injury, our instructors give you the focus you need to build a stronger, leaner body.

It is what keeps people coming back: the intimate, small classes and the feeling that you are being taught, not just put through a workout.

Who was Joseph Pilates

Nearly a century ahead of his time

The method is named for its inventor, Joseph H. Pilates (1883 to 1967). Born a sickly child with asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever, Joe realized early how much health and fitness mattered, and spent his life developing what he called Contrology, which we now know as the Pilates Method. He was a boxer, gymnast, and skilled diver who studied both eastern and western philosophies, including yoga.

He understood, long before it was common, that the key to a healthy life is a strong, flexible spine. Pilates focuses on the core postural muscles that keep the body balanced while aligning the spine and improving posture, all tied to a strong awareness of breath and a deep mind-body connection. The method includes more than 500 controlled, precise movements designed to strengthen and lengthen without adding bulk.

Uncle Joe was also an inventor. He rigged springs to hospital beds so bedridden patients could exercise, and that idea grew into the apparatus we still use today.
